Life Skills Coaching in Amaroo

If you’re looking for Life Skills Coaching in Amaroo through the NDIS, you’re in the right place.

If you want to feel more confident doing things for yourself, we can help.

Life skills coaching is all about learning how to do everyday things that make life easier.

What Are Life Skills?

They’re the things you do every day - like brushing your teeth and making breakfast. Or getting to the shops and paying for groceries.

Life Skills Are Small Things That Make A Big Difference

They help you live with more freedom and feel more sure of yourself.

Life Skills Coaching helps you build those skills - one step at a time.

Who Is It For?

You might be a teen learning about independence. Or an adult trying new things on your own after years of support.

Maybe you’ve just moved out of home or you want to rely less on the help of others.

There’s no right age or ability - just a willingness to give it a go.

If you’re an NDIS participant living in Amaroo, this could be for you.

What Kind of Skills Can You Learn?

Everyone starts in a different place.

It’s about learning enough to do more on your own - and feeling proud of that.

You might want to:

  • Learn to cook simple meals
  • Clean your room or bathroom
  • Do your own laundry
  • Use public transport
  • Pay for things at the shops
  • Stick to a budget
  • Organise appointments
  • Use your phone or calendar

Amaroo is a great place to build new skills. It’s a quiet suburb - perfect for learning at your own pace.

You can practise tasks without feeling rushed. And your coach can meet you at home or nearby.

  • There are local shops, parks, and safe walking paths.
  • Buses can take you to Gungahlin or the city.
  • You can practise catching public transport.
  • Or shop for groceries with your coach nearby.

How Coaching Works

Your Coach Works With You One-On-One

They get to know you. They ask what matters to you. And they build a plan with you.

You Practise Real Things In Real Places

That might be at home. Or at the local shops. Or while making lunch together.

Sessions Are Short, Practical, And Relaxed

No lectures. Just small steps that make a big difference.

NDIS and Life Skills

You don’t have to pay for coaching on your own. NDIS can fund Life Skills Coaching. It usually comes under Capacity Building and is about learning the skills to live more independently.

Your Coordinator Or Local Area Coordinator Can Help Set It Up

You can also ask your support worker to help with the paperwork. There’s support every step of the way.

What If I’ve Never Done It Before?

That’s completely okay. Coaching is mostly for people just starting out.

You don’t need to know how to do everything already - you just need to want to try.

You might start with small wins - like learning to pack your bag for the day, or using a recipe card to make toast.

Every skill builds on the last one.

A Day With a Life Skills Coach

Here’s what it might look like:

  • You meet your coach in the morning.
  • Together, you write a list of things to do.
  • You walk to the local shops and pick up groceries.
  • You use a budget app to check what you’ve spent.
  • Back home, you cook a simple meal and clean up after.
  • You talk about what went well - and what to try next time.

Every session is real-life. No tests or pressure. Just practice and support.

Can I Choose My Coach?

Yes. This is your support - you’re allowed to choose.

You can meet different people and see who suits you.

If you click with your coach, it’s easier to learn.

You can also ask for a coach who shares your language or culture.

What Happens After Coaching?

Once you build some skills and confidence, you might want to try new things.

Like joining a cooking group, or going out without support, or managing your own money.

You Don’t Have To Stop Coaching Right Away

It fits around your life and is flexible. You can keep going or take breaks as you need.

Let’s Talk About What You Need
